NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes live text for the weekend matchups via multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the football calendar and after last week's talk regarding two top teams being possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.

Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties each conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they kind of defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the final quarter versus Denver, set to play overseas this Sunday.

But it proved good to observe that Denver quarterback the rookie was able to overcome the shortfall before direct three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the victory by four points.

The Broncos have the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos prevailed in that battle.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing more than four pass rushers but they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

At the start in the campaign, it was noted on a program how the Broncos could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled big while new RB JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love how the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows how Denver represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in favourable down and distances.

This has helped quarterback the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw all over, but they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, and he's so athletic.

His strengths are his mobility, the capacity to pass on the run, as well as finding different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw that layered pass across the middle or past defenders.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and can pass in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and is quick to decide.

When you consistently rush it eats up time and makes the opponent to stay in play for longer, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the area downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think Payton likes that fire, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for the coach to have a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can really develop him the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.

The head coach has won a Super Bowl and has passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the success Denver are experiencing on offence is largely due to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB aids shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need to do to continue this path.

They're really good at embracing their strength, which is the ground game, and that's precisely what they must do against the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win a game.

Since the league started recording takeaways decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.

It depends on which form Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
