Football Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's ten-match victorious run was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.

For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's new album, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend football team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for several years and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

The Cherries have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

West Ham's only away victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously Forest coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

My son advised me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's home record, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

It is a hard one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
