Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in German Capital – Week 10 NFL Action
Guten tag, football enthusiasts. How are you? Everything good I hope on this fine early start to week 10 coming directly from Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the first in the capital city.
Pregame Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in their last game?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.
First Quarter Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Updates
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Other Week 10 Games
Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:
(5-4) Panthers v Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Dolphins v Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
What a feast. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the game of the day.
